LAKE
Fyans is located near Stawell at the foot of Victoria's Grampians
National Park. It is a man-made lake that is stocked with brown
and rainbow trout and has a good population of redfin.
It has good stands of drowned timber and at certain times of
the year can be choked with weed making fishing a little difficult.

There is a caravan park located on its shore with a good boat
ramp that can be out of the water during periods of low water
levels. Another unofficial dirt boat ramp is located on the
southern side of the lake close to the wall.
Bank fishing is best along the dam wall and is safe enough or
families. Best baits are mudeye, yabbies and live minnow. The
lake fishes best during the cooler months for trout and over
summer for redfin.

Trout can attain trophy sizes with a few 3 - 4 kg specimens
being landed each season. Redfin from this water are very fat
with stunning colours. A good redfin from lake Fyans can top
2.5kg.
Fyans is a very popular fly fishing destination with good all
year insect activity.
